Harpenden
Modern Country Garden Design
The brief from the client was to give this large garden a complete overhaul including a new, larger patio area directly outside the new kitchen extension with bi-fold doors. The client requested an additional seating area to capture the afternoon and evening sun.
The combination of porcelain paving, clay brick pavers and Corten Steel edging gave the garden a more up-to-date feel, whilst ensuring the garden was in keeping with the house and surrounding landscape.
Radwell
Modern Country Garden Design and Large-Scale Planting Design
The brief was to design a completely new garden to sit on top of a newly-built basement containing a swimming pool, gym, spa and home cinema. The client requested a large lawn area, plenty of planting and a complete irrigation system. The client wanted a sophisticated but relaxed feel to the garden.
Starting from scratch we designed a beautiful new space with pathways and seating areas for entertaining. Planting for this project was large-scale and was carried out in stages, consisting of a Mediterranean border, herb garden and pleached evergreen trees to create a sense of privacy and seclusion.

Back Garden Re-Design
This garden, situated on the South side of Hitchin, required an overhaul and re-design of an outdated patio and gravel area that had seen better days. The client required a larger patio area for entertaining, new borders and planting, new fencing and a water feature.
The property had a modern feel, so porcelain paving was selected, with dark grey clay pavers to blend the new design with existing windows and doors. Planting was mainly in shade, so colourful foliage was used throughout to ensure plenty of interest throughout the seasons.

Kerbside Border Overhaul
This new build house was suffering from a lack of kerb appeal due to the existing kerbside border being messy and dull. The client wanted a complete re-fresh of the border and a design that enhanced the side of the house. With the border being South-Facing there was plenty of scope for some beautiful planting.
Evergreen topiary was used for structure, climbing plants broke up the long wall and were attached the luxury composite trellis to add sophistication. Tulips and Alliums featured to create interest and drama throughout Spring.
Biggleswade
Back Garden Re-Design
This new-build garden was a blank canvas of turf, fencing and utility pavers. The client asked for a curved design with a new patio, shed, vegetable beds and path. The client was delighted with their new garden and subsequently referred Flower and Stone to their parents in Harpenden.
Pirton
Walled Garden Design
This small, new build, walled garden required some character and interest. The semi-retired client wanted a new patio, path and borders based on the walled garden at Wimple Hall, Cambridgeshire.
A porcelain patio was installed with brick edging along with a self-binding gravel path in a buff shade. David Austin Roses were a key feature in the planting scheme along with a herb area near the patio and BBQ.
